That's what Port Canaveral CEO Captain John Murray said yesterday at a ceremony with Congressman Mike Haridopolos.Haridopolos presented Murray with a 20-million dollar grant from the Port Infrastructure Development Program,It'll allow the Canaveral Port Authority to expand capacity at two of the Port's busiest cargo berths.Haridopolos says Port Canaveral is a cornerstone of our local economy and a critical gateway for commerce, national security and job creation.
Palm Beach County Airport To Get $10M In Federal Funds
(West Palm Beach, FL) -- An airport in Palm Beach County is getting millions in upgrades. The US Department of Transportation announced yesterday it's awarding ten-million dollars to Palm Beach International Airport. The money will go toward expanding the terminal to include new restrooms, mother's rooms and a new sensory room for families. The money is part of over 9-hundred million dollars the federal agency is awarding to over one hundred airports in 45 states.Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy says this administration is focused on making travel happier and more convenient for American families. Meanwhile, starting July First, PBI will be known as Donald J. Trump International Airport.
Tampa City Council Chair Clendenin Explains Support For Rays Deal
(Tampa, FL) --Building a new baseball field for the Tampa Bay Rays isn't another stadium deal but a city-building deal.That's what Tampa City Council Chair Alan Clendenin wrote yesterday in a column for the Tampa Bay Times. He explained his support for the project and the benefits it'll provide for the city. Clendenin says Hillsborough County, Tampa and the Rays are taking the public-private model to an entirely new level. He points out Tampa's direct contribution will be just about three-and-a-half percent of the total cost, but it'll make a big difference. Clendenin says the city's investment will lead to a return on investment of 75 billion dollars in economic impact and 10-thousand new jobs.
Southwest Airlines Praises Pilot For Buying Pizza For Passengers
(Washington, DC) --Southwest Airlines is praising one of its pilots for buying pizza for stranded passengers during a delayed flight at Reagan National Airport. The airline posted pictures of the pilot, identified as First Officer James, on social media last week. He reportedly stepped off the delayed flight, ordered enough pizza for everyone, and then served it to the passengers himself. The airline praised James for showing compassion and initiative during a stressful situation.
