Brevard is in mourning today. Former Rockledge councilman, State Representative, Senator and US Representative Bill Posey passed away over the weekend. While Bill served our community well throughout his life, he was much more than a politician or even a public servant. He was husband, father, grandfather and friend.
I, as many of you are, am thankful for his faithful service to Brevard, Florida and the United States. There are few like him and that’s sad. We’d be far better served if all elected officials were made in the mold of Bill Posey. He set an example that should be touted as the standard for public service and commitment to principle.
It was a weekend of loss. I attended Frank Fernandez’ funeral on Saturday. Frank, much like Bill, was a man dedicated to family and service. While I have known Frank and Christine for years, I was honored to spend time with their extended family on Saturday. They quickly made me feel like part of it. Frank and Christine have long touted the relationship between Richmond Transmission and this community through their sponsorship of this program. It was much more than a partnership; it was a true friendship built on respect and trust.
We’ve lost good people in 2026. Let’s celebrate the time we had with them as we acknowledge their contributions to our lives.
