Red Flag Warning Issued

(Melbourne, FL) --There's a heightened risk of fire today in Central Florida. A Red Flag Warning will be in effect from noon to 8:00 for Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Lake, Volusia and Brevard counties. The National Weather Service issued the warning due to gusty winds and low relative humidity. Winds could reach 25 miles an hour, and humidity could be as low as 27 percent.The NWS warns any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly, and outdoor burning is not recommended.

Publix Appears To Change Gun Policy

(Lakeland, FL) --There appears to be a change in Publix' gun policy. It had been allowing customers to openly carry firearms since a state law passed last year. Now, though, signs on store windows in Central Florida and around the state read "Publix kindly asks that only law enforcement openly carry firearms in our stores." Publix has not commented on the apparent change.   

Four Arrested For Online Marketplace Robbery In Miami-Dade County

(Miami, FL) --Some recent arrests in Miami-Dade County highlight the risks of selling items online. The sheriff's office announced yesterday four people were arrested for robbing people they met through online marketplaces. Deputies say the suspects would arrange to meet sellers and then steal the products. The alleged thieves were targeting cell phones and laptops. This went on for the last six months, and investigators have identified 11 robberies and six grand thefts in the Intracoastal District.  Two of the suspects are teenagers, 17 and 19. The MDSO reminds sellers to use caution and meet in designated safe exchange zones or law enforcement facilities when possible.

World's Oldest Manatee Lives At Fort Walton Beach

(Fort Walton, FL) --Florida's Fort Walton Beach is home to the world's oldest manatee. Romeo, who's in his 70s, recently set a Guinness World Record. He lives in a 300-thousand-gallon habitat at Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park and appears to be thriving. Manatees typically live into their 30s and 40s in the wild.
