(Kissimmee, FL) -- Kissimmee's mayor is trying to block an ethics investigation into COVID relief funds for her family business. Lawyers for Jackie Espinosa filed a petition Monday with an appeals court. A lower court ordered the investigation, but Espinosa's lawyers say only the state's ethics commission can do so. There's no word on when the appeals court will issue a ruling.
Miami-Dade County Man Accused Of Threatening Trump
(Miami, FL) -- A Miami-Dade County man is accused of threatening President Trump. The Justice Department announced yesterday Miami Beach's Nathaniel Sanders was in court Monday for threats he posted online. He allegedly threatened to kill Trump, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and former Attorney General Pam Bondi. A federal prosecutor says the threats are not political speech but serious federal crimes that endanger public safety and the rule of law. If convicted, Sanders could get up to 10 years in federal prison.
Six People Rescued On Lake In Osceola County
(Kissimmee, FL) -- Six people are safe after a boat trip turned dangerous in Osceola County. The sheriff's office released video yesterday of Saturday's rescue on East Lake Toho. Deputies got a call that the boat was taking on water in dangerous conditions, and the aviation unit was dispatched. The boat was found, and a swift water rescue took place. The OCSO says this incident highlights the importance of monitoring weather conditions and the value of rapid response and coordination. The Space Coast Office of Tourism has announced a new record was set last month with over 345-thousand visitors the week of the launch. They helped generate over 40-million dollars in local spending. By comparison, over 200-thousand more people visited for Artemis 2 than Artemis One four years ago.
Suffolk Teen Survives Electrocution and 60 Foot Fall
(Suffolk, VA) -- A teen in Suffolk, Virginia is lucky to be alive after surviving being electrocuted and falling nearly 60 feet to the ground. The incident happened last Friday when the 15-year-old climbed a high transmission power line, touched the energized electrical line and fell about 60 feet down. Fire crews found the teen after responding to a call of a brush fire. The teen was rushed to the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters where he's currently in stable condition. Amtrak service in the area was also delayed for more than two hours because of the incident.
