Missing USF Students Now Considered Endangered
(Tampa, FL) -- There's growing concern about two missing University of South Florida students.The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office announced yesterday it now considers Zamil [[zuh-MEEL]] Limon [[lim-ON]] and Nahida [[na-HEE-duh]] Bristy to be endangered. Deputies say the change in status is based on new information, but no details were released. The two 27-year-old doctoral students from Bangladesh haven't been seen in over a week.The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office conducted a search yesterday at Sand Key Park in Clearwater. No other information has been made available.
Arrest Made In Cold-Case Murder
(Tampa, FL) -- A recent arrest in Tampa could mark the end of a decades-old murder investigation.William Antonio Solis was arrested Wednesday for allegedly killing a couple in New York almost 33 years ago.Federal prosecutors say Solis shot drug dealer Luis Guerrero and his wife during a robbery in the Bronx in 1993.NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch says Solis executed them in cold blood in front of their 3-year-old child. He then fled to Tampa and lived in the city ever since. The 62-year-old could get the death penalty.
FLPD Lauds K9 Hero
(Fort Lauderdale, FL)-- A police canine in Broward County is being praised as a hero. Fort Lauderdale Police released a video yesterday of their K9 named Appie responding to a burglary call Saturday on Northwest 16th Court. Suspect Christian Bouie shot Appie and ran from the scene. The FLPD says that led to an intense manhunt involving the SWAT team before Bouie was eventually caught. Meanwhile, Appie was taken to the hospital for surgery, and the four-year-old Belgian Malinois was released from the hospital yesterday. Police write on Facebook that Appie ran toward danger so others didn't have to, and they couldn't be more proud of him.
HillsCo May Not Meet Rays Stadium Deadline
(Tampa, FL) -- Hillsborough County is unlikely to meet a critical deadline to get a new baseball stadium. The county attorney's office told the Tampa Bay Rays yesterday getting public funding finalized by June First is unreasonable. The Rays want about a billion dollars from the county and the city of Tampa. The county says it needs to reach a preliminary agreement first, and then, it would need at least 60 days to finalize the deal. Rays CEO Ken Babby previously said failure to reach the deadline would leave the team with no choice but to evaluate alternatives.
4M+ Tickets Purchased For 2028 Olympics
(Los Angeles, CA)-- More than four-million tickets have been purchased for the 2028 Olympics.A presale for Los Angeles and Oklahoma City residents ran from April 2nd through 6th. During that time, 95 percent of the tickets cheaper than 100 dollars were sold. That includes about half-a-million 28-dollar tickets. Drop one for the general public ran from April 9th through the 19th.
