(Cape Canaveral, FL) -- NASA is already preparing for its next Artemis mission. Today, it's rolling out the core stage for the Artemis Three mission.The rocket is being loaded onto the barge in Louisiana to be delivered to Kennedy Space Center in Florida. This stage houses the main fuel tank and communication computer for the rocket. It aims to test systems for the plan to eventually land astronauts on the moon.Artemis Three is scheduled to launch sometime next year.
Cause revealed: Blue Origin Rocket Fails To Reach Proper Orbit
(Cape Canaveral, FL) -- Blue Origin's New Glenn rocket launched Sunday carrying a communications satellite for AST SpaceMobile, but the FAA says the satellite failed to reach the proper orbit. AST SpaceMobile says the satellite will re-enter Earth's atmosphere and burn up.The FAA has grounded the New Glenn rocket while it investigates. Blue Origin CEO Dave Limp says one of the rocket's engines didn't produce sufficient thrust to reach the target orbit. He writes on X he's working with the FAA to learn from the data and implement the improvements needed to quickly return to flight operations.
House Ethics Committee To Vote On Sanctioning Cherfilus-McCormick
(Washington, DC) --Sheila Cherifuls [[SHER-fill-us]]-McCormick's days in Congress could be numbered. The House Ethics Committee will vote today on whether to sanction the South Florida Democrat. The 20th District rep is accused of stealing 5 million dollars in COVID relief funds for personal expenses. She's facing criminal charges and over two dozen House ethics violations, but she denies wrongdoing. If the Ethics Committee votes to sanction her, then the full House will vote on whether to expel her from Congress. That would require a two-thirds vote.
Swatter Targets Pasco County School
(New Port Richey, FL) -- A Pasco County school appears to be the victim of a swatting attack. The sheriff's office announced yesterday someone called in a bomb threat at River Ridge High School in New Port Richey.Nothing was found, and deputies believe the call was a hoax. No arrest has been announced.
Employee Hurt Trying To Catch Thief
(Miami, FL) --A man is hurt after he was trying to stop a thief in Miami. The owner of the Franky Diamonds jewelry store says someone ran off last week with a Rolex at the Village Flea Market on Northwest 27th Ave in West Little River.The watch is valued at 40-thousand dollars, and an employee chased the thief into the parking lot and jumped on the hood of the thief's van as he tried to get away. The van eventually stopped on Northwest 79th Street, and the suspect took off. Diamonds tells 7News his employee got hurt really bad. There's some good news, though, as the suspect was eventually arrested for grand theft and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Man Who Lived With Lover's Corpse Sentenced To Five Years In Prison
(Lakewood, CO) --A man who kept a corpse in his Colorado apartment so he could keep spending the victim's money has been sentenced to five years in prison. Police arrested 56-year-old James Agnew in Lakewood last July. They found the body of 64-year-old Frances O'Neill under an inflatable mattress inside Agnew's apartment. Investigators said Agnew and O'Neill were lovers, and that Agnew and his sister kept the corpse hidden so they could spend O'Neill's Social Security money. Agnew eventually pleaded guilty to charges of tampering with a human body and identity theft.
