Blue Origin Puts Satellite In Wrong Orbit

(Cape Canaveral, FL) -- Blue Origin had a successful launch yesterday as its New Glenn rocket blasted off from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. However, it was carrying a commercial communications satellite that it put into the wrong orbit, making it unusable. It was the third launch for the New Glenn rocket and the first to reuse the rocket's first stage. 

Man Indicted For Urinate On Taxiway, Chasing Airplanes At DAB

(Orlando, FL) --A man has been indicted for crashing through the gate at Daytona Beach International Airport. Federal prosecutors in central Florida say suspect Bryan Parker had urinated on the taxiway, then chased and entered aircrafts last month. A Volusia County sheriff’s office says he was under the influence with multiple substances.Parker is facing DUI, security violation and other related charges.    

Semi-Trucks Catch Fire In Volusia County

(New Smyrna Beach, FL) -- An investigation is underway after an explosion in Volusia County. The New Smyrna Beach Fire Department says there was an explosion last night at the Reddy Ice Plant near Industrial Park Boulevard.Five semi-tractor trailers caught fire, but no injuries were reported. Fire officials are looking for a cause.

Bear Suit Scammers Plead No Contest to Felony Insurance Fraud

(Los Angeles, CA) -- Los Angeles County residents accused of dressing up as a bear and trashing luxury cars are headed to jail. This week, three of the suspects pleaded no contest to felony insurance fraud. They were sentenced to 180 days in jail, which will be served incrementally through a weekend jail program. The California Department of Insurance says they damaged luxury cars for insurance money. They submitted insurance claims in 2024 that defrauded companies out of nearly 142-thousand dollars.  One of suspects dressed up like a bear and crawled around three of the vehicles in the view of security cameras. The bear suit was later found by authorities.  

Census Bureau List Of Most Common First Names

(Washington, DC) --Michael is topping the list of the most common first names in America. According to newly released data from the Census Bureau, one out of every 100 people in the U.S. is named Michael. The agency based its data on information collected during the 2020 Census and found that John, James, David and Robert rounded out the top five. Mary is the most common female name on the list, but it ranked seventh overall.

2016, the Treasury Department announced that Harriet Tubman will be on the front of the new 20 dollar bill. That would move former President Andrew Jackson to the back of the bill. Tubman was a noted African-American abolitionist and humanitarian in the Civil War era. Former Secretary of Treasury Jack Lew says the bill will be unveiled in 2020.

1999, two teenage gunmen opened fire on students and teachers at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado killing 13 people before turning their guns on themselves.
