Stepbrother Charged In Stepsister's Cruise Ship Death
(Undated) -- A teenage boy is charged as an adult in the cruise ship death of his stepsister. Prosecutors say the 16-year-old boy sexually abused and murdered 18-year-old Anna Kepner while the family was on a Carnival cruise ship last November. She died of "mechanical asphyxiation." The Department of Justice announced the charges yesterday.
Man Arrested For Bomb Threat At ALF
(Tampa, FL) --A Minnesota man is accused of threatening to set off a bomb in Hillsborough County. The sheriff's office announced yesterday Alexander Lufriu was arrested last week for a phone call he made to Colonnade at Carrollwood in Tampa on South Village Drive. According to deputies, he said there was a bomb in the building, but a search turned up nothing. Investigators traced the call to Lufriu's phone number in Minnesota, and he's charged with false report of a bomb, explosive or weapon of mass destruction.Sheriff Chad Chronister says threatening lives and causing panic in our community is unacceptable, and we will track you down, no matter where you are and hold you accountable.
No Bond For Broward County Murder Suspect
(Sunrise, FL) --A man is behind bars after a deadly shooting in Broward County. Francisco Navarro Sanchez was in court yesterday for the shooting that killed Kendrick English in Sunrise on Sunday morning. Sunrise Police say Sanchez was working security at Five Stars Banquet Hall on West Oakland Park Boulevard when English tried to get inside, but Sanchez refused to let him in. That led to an argument and English left, but he returned, and police say when English swore at Sanchez, Sanchez shot him five times. Sanchez is charged with murder and is being held without bond.Friends of English tell Local 10 News the 48-year-old was a paraplegic in a wheelchair, and he couldn't have been a threat to Sanchez.
Driverless Waymo Cars Reportedly Disrupt Traffic in Downtown Nashville
(Nashville, TN) --Drivers in downtown Nashville are raising questions after multiple videos showing Waymo self-driving vehicles briefly stopping or slowing traffic just days after the company's official launch in the city. The clips posted on social media appear to show the driverless cars pausing in intersections or struggling with tight turns, in some cases blocking lanes for short periods. Waymo says in one instance the vehicle paused while navigating around a pedal tavern and nearby traffic, and in another it briefly stopped while attempting a tight turn.According to Waymo, no passengers were inside either vehicle. The company says it's reviewing the incidents and emphasizes that safety remains its top priority as Nashville continues rolling out autonomous ride technology.
