Influencer Dan Bilzerian Running For Congress

(Palm Beach, FL)-- Social media influencer Dan Bilzerian is running for Congress. He's looking to represent Florida's 6th district.Bilzerian filed as a Republican and will challenge Congressman Randy Fine. The Florida State Primary is August 18th. The General Election is November 3rd.

Brevard County Man Accused Of Trying To Kill His Ex

(Titusville, FL)-- A Brevard County man is accused of trying to kill his ex. It happened Monday when John Lucas allegedly drove a car he and the woman were in into the Barge Canal. The sheriff's office believes Lucas was trying to kill both of them. She was rescued, but he was able to get away. Lucas was arrested Tuesday, and he's facing charges that include attempted second-degree murder.  

Student Describes School Bus-Train Collision In Sumter County

(Bushnell, FL)-- A student estimates she was just six inches away from serious injury or worse after a train hit her school bus in Sumter County. Isabelle Sinibaldi talked recently about last week's collision in Bushnell. The 8th grader was on a bus that was crossing at East Central Ave and North Market Street when a train clipped the back of the bus. Isabelle was sitting in the back, and she tells WESH 2 she remembers thinking they were going to get completely demolished as the train approached.The bus driver is facing charges, and the school district has altered the route to avoid the railroad crossing in the future. 

Woman Accused Of Killing Boyfriend With Beer Bottle

(South Ogden, UT)-- A Utah woman is accused of killing her boyfriend with a beer bottle.Police say 51-year-old Terri Morgan is facing murder charges in the death of the unidentified man. She reportedly called 911 Tuesday in South Ogden and told a dispatcher she had broken the bottle over the victim's head during an argument, but refused to do chest compressions or cooperate with instructions. However, cops say they found that she had texted pictures of her injured boyfriend to others, confessing to what she had done. The messages were allegedly sent 30-minutes before Morgan called for help.

1959, America's first astronauts were introduced to the American people. The seven men were military test pilots chosen by NASA to take part in the agency's first manned space flights. 

1881, famed outlaw Billy the Kid was convicted of murder for the killing of a New Mexico sheriff. The trial lasted one day and Kid was sentenced to hang. Kid managed to escape, but was shot dead by Sheriff Pat Garrett a short time later.
