Siblings Charged In Plot At MacDill Air Force Base
(Tampa, FL) --A Pasco County man is under arrest on suspicion of plotting to attack MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa. The FBI says Alen Zheng planted an explosive device outside the base before fleeing to China. His sister, Ann Mary Zheng, is accused of helping him escape and tampering with evidence. A potentially deadly "improvised explosive device" was found near the base's visitor center on March 16th. Another man, Jonathan Elder, was arrested for a separate incident at the base last week.
Justice Dept. Sues SeaWorld Over Walker Ban
(Orlando, FL) --The Justice Department is suing the parent company of SeaWorld over its wheeled-walker band. United Parks & Resorts Inc. is accused of violating the Americans with Disabilities Act. The lawsuit claims the ban prevents guests with disabilities from accessing large portions of the parks. Federal officials want United Parks to modify its policy, provide staff training on disability rights, and offer compensation.
Anticipation Builds For Artemis 2 Launch
(Cape Canaveral, FL) -- Anticipation is building ahead of the launch of Artemis 2. The mission to orbit the moon could launch as early as Wednesday, and businesses around Cape Canaveral are getting ready for big crowds.Economic forecaster John Boyd predicts the launch will add 160 million dollars to the local economy. He tells WESH 2 that Artemis One drew 200-thousand people four years ago, and this launch could draw twice as many.
Deputy Accused Of Smuggling Drugs Appears In Court
(Miami-Dade, FL) --The Miami-Dade sheriff's deputy who's accused of trying to smuggle drugs onto a cruise ship is facing a judge.Francisco Melo appeared in court today and reportedly passed a drug test. He's accused of concealing Ecstasy pills inside Skittles candy bags and trying to sneak them onto a cruise ship at PortMiami. Melo was arrested in January 2025. The judge set a June trial date.
