Gov. DeSantis Welcomes Federal Fraud Crackdown

(Bradenton, FL)-- Governor Ron DeSantis says he welcomes federal help in cracking down on Medicare and Medicaid fraud in Florida. Officials say South Florida remains a major trouble spot, with repeated overbilling tied to suppliers of durable medical equipment. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services is now blocking new Medicare enrollments for suppliers while it reviews improper billing.Attorney General James Uthmeier says Florida's Medicaid system is overwhelmed with fraud and abuse and looks forward to working with federal partners on the effort.

Orange County Apartment Building Evacuated After Cracks Are Found

(Orlando, FL) -- Hundreds of people in Orange County are displaced after cracks were found in their building. Orange County Fire Rescued evacuated over 350 people yesterday from The Rialto on Sand Lake Road in Dr. Phillips. Inspectors found the building to be unstable. The county's emergency management office is helping residents find a place to stay. 

Details Emerge In Deadly Volusia County Stabbing

(Daytona Beach, FL)-- Details are starting to come out about what led to a deadly stabbing in Volusia County. Austin Noel was in court yesterday after he allegedly stabbed 34-year-old Jacob Barrho to death Wednesday at their home in Daytona Beach. The two lived there with Noel's wife, who's also Barrho's girlfriend.Cherokee Lewis says the three were in a polyamorous relationship until she decided she wanted to end her marriage to Noel and stay with Barrho. They all continued to live in the same house, and Lewis tells Fox 35 it appeared to be going well until the argument between Noel and Barrho that led to the stabbing.Noel is charged with first-degree murder, and he's being held without bond.    

Squatter Arrested In Broward County

(Miami Shores, FL)-- A Broward County man is accused of squatting at a home in Miami-Dade County. Miami Shores Police arrested Weston's Diego Alejandro Escobar Ortega on Wednesday.He was allegedly living in a home he does not own without permission. Arrest records show the home belongs to Valerie LeBatard. She's the wife of podcast host Dan LeBatard.According to Local 10, Dan LeBatard said yesterday on his show he believes Escobar Ortega was preparing to fully occupy the house.    

Finland Named Happiest Country On Earth - Again 

(Oxford, UK) -- Finland is still the world's happiest country. The World Happiness Report is out with its annual list of the happiest countries on Earth, and for the ninth year in a row Finland is ranked number one.Iceland claims second place followed by Denmark in third. The U.S. once again failed to crack the top ten, coming in 23rd place this year. 

Dancing Robot Goes Wild At California Restaurant

(Cupertino, CA)-- A dancing robot is going viral for busting a move - and dishes - at a California hotpot restaurant. The robot was captured on video approaching and pounding on a table at a Haidilao location in Cupertino. It then knocked over utensils and food in front of customers before servers were able to restrain the seemingly rogue device. However, the restaurant chain says the bot "was not malfunctioning or out of control," but its moves were pre-programmed and taking place in "a closer-than-usual setting." The robot is part of the restaurant's entertainment offering, and it is programmed to dance for customers.
