Police Officer Shot In Volusia County

(Port Orange, FL)-- A police officer and a suspect are hurt after a shooting in Volusia County.It happened yesterday morning in Port Orange on I-95 near I-4 and Beville Road. Port Orange Police say Todd Martin was wanted for another shooting, and during a chase, he crashed, got out of the car and fired at officers.South Daytona Police Officer Jake Fessenden was hit twice and is in stable condition while he awaits surgery.Martin was hit when police returned fire, and he was also burned when the car he barricaded himself in caught fire.He was taken to the hospital, and the POPD says he's in critical condition.

Event In Miami Raises Money For Cuban Relief

(Miami, FL) -- Cubans in need may get help from a recent event in Miami. The Freedom Road Socialist Organization held an auction this weekend to raise money for relief supplies. Claudia Rodriguez helped organize the event, and she says the situation in Cuba is incredibly frustrating. She tells Local 10 the US is making it worse, and the blockade just brings suffering. 

Man Arrested For Selling Fake WBC Tickets

(Miami, FL) -- A man who may be an illegal immigrant is accused of selling counterfeit tickets to the World Baseball Classic. New York resident Hector Giral Hernandez was arrested Saturday outside loanDepot Park where Venezuela was playing Japan. Miami Police say people who bought tickets from him were told their tickets were fake, and they were denied entry. Hernandez is charged with organized scheme to defraud, and there's an immigration hold on him.   

Eight Hurt In Pasco County Golf Cart Crash

(Wesley Chapel, FL)-- Eight people are hurt after a golf cart crash in Pasco County. It happened Saturday night in Wesley Chapel.FHP says the golf cart driver made a U-turn and wound up in the path of a car. When the two collided, all eight people in the golf cart were ejected.All were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Troopers say the occupants were a Wesley Chapel man, his wife, their five kids and a 16-year-old neighbor. No one in the car was hurt. 

Florida Gets Four Teams In NCAA Men's Tournament

(Undated) -- The state of Florida is well represented in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament.The field was released yesterday, and it includes four teams from our state. The defending champion Florida Gators are the one-seed in the South region, and they'll play the Prairie View-Lehigh winner Friday night in Tampa.Miami is the seven-seed in the West, and they'll play 10-seed Missouri Friday night in St. Louis. South Florida is the 11-seed in the East, and they'll play six-seed Louisville Thursday afternoon in Buffalo. Central Florida is the 10-seed in the East, and they'll play seven-seed UCLA Friday night in Philadelphia.

Suspected Drunk Driver Slams Into Patrol SUV

(Jacksonville, FL)-- An officer is recovering after a suspected drunk driver slammed into his parked patrol SUV on I-10 in Jacksonville early Thursday. The sheriff's office says Cate Kitay drove her pickup straight into the marked unit around 1:30 a.m., even though its emergency lights were flashing to warn drivers of a lane closure. The impact pushed her truck into an unoccupied utility vehicle. The officer suffered only minor injuries and is expected to fully recover, but police stress the crash was completely preventable.
