Rays Beat Cardinals To Even Series

The Tampa Bay Rays (62-67) defeated the St. Louis Cardinals (64-66) 10-6 on Friday night at Steinbrenner Field. The win snapped the Rays losing skid at four games and evened the three-game series at a game apiece.

The Rays offense got started in the first inning when Brandon Lowe hit a solo homer. The Rays added two runs in the second, third and fourth to build a 7-1 lead. When the Cardinals answered with a single run in the first and four in the seventh to pull within 7-6, the Rays answered with two in the seventh and one in the eighth to earn the 10-6 win.

Carson Williams went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored, including his first career MLB homer in the seventh inning. Adrian Houser (7-4, 2.88) got the win after allowing four runs - all of them earned - on six hits in six and one-third innings of work in which he struck out two and walked two.

The Rays now have a rare off day Saturday before meeting the Cardinals in the series finale on Sunday. First pitch on Sunday is scheduled for 12:10 PM - pregame coverage begins with Chris Adams-Wall hosting This Week In Rays Baseball at 10:30 AM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
