Rays Beat Orioles To Win Series

The Tampa Bay Rays (52-47) defeated the Baltimore Orioles (43-54) 4-3 on Saturday night. With the win, the Rays have won the three-game series against their AL-East rival and will go for the sweep on Sunday afternoon.

The Orioles scored two in the first to take an early lead, which would be the score for much of the game. In the seventh the Rays scored one, before flipping the game in the eighth. In the eighth inning the Rays scored three runs to take control of the game.

In that eighth inning, Chandler Simpson tied the game with a RBI single that made it 2-2. Moments later, the Rays got two runs on a play in which Orioles first baseman Ryan O'Hearn committed an error - the Rays led 4-2 at that point, and would hold on for a 4-3 win.

Zack Littell got the start and allowed two earned runs on seven hits in six innings of work in which he struck out three and walked none. Edwin Uceta (6-2, 5.27) got the win out of the bullpen before Pete Fairbanks earned his sixteenth save of the season after working the ninth inning.

The Rays will now try to sweep the Orioles in the three-game series on Sunday afternoon. First pitch Sunday is scheduled for 12:10 PM - pregame coverage begins with Chris Adams-Wall hosting This Week In Rays Baseball at 10:30 AM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
