The Tampa Bay Rays (37-32) defeated the New York Mets (45-25) 7-5 on Friday night at Citi Field in New York. The Rays were able to snap a losing skid at two against one of the teams with the best records in Major League Baseball so far this season.
The Rays took a 1-0 lead in the fourth thanks to a solo homer from Jonathan Aranda. The Mets then turned around and built a 5-1 lead with two runs in the fourth and three in fifth.
Tampa Bay answered with a six-run sixth inning, including a two-run homer from Danny Jansen that gave the Rays a 7-5 lead which would prove to be the final score.
The Rays will now look to win the three-game series against the Mets coming up on Saturday. First pitch Saturday is scheduled for 4:10 PM - Chris Adams-Wall begins pregame coverage at 3:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
