(Miami, FL) - The National Hurricane Center is tracking the first area for potential tropical development for the 2025 season.

The area of low pressure off Florida's east coast has a small chance of development over the next seven days.

Further tropical development of the system could bring the east coast of Florida gusty winds, rougher surf and enhanced thunderstorm chances over the next couple of days.

The area is being monitored by the National Hurricane Center and has a 10% chance of developing into something tropical over the next several days.

Recent nasty storms have been causing travel troubles in Miami and Fort Lauderdale.

With more storms on the way, MIA and FLL officials are urging passengers to check their flight status before heading to the airport.

A flood watch is in effect through tomorrow morning
