Two people died and nine others were injured in a mass shooting at Fairmount Park in Philadelphia late Monday night (May 26). The victims who lost their lives have been identified as 23-year-old Amya Devlin and 21-year-old Mikhail Bowers. The shooting occurred around 10:27 p.m. on Lemon Hill Drive at Poplar Drive, a popular area for gatherings, especially on holidays.
The wounded victims range in age from 15 to 28. They include a 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl, both shot in the thigh, and a 19-year-old woman who suffered a head injury. Other injuries include shots to the leg, foot, hand, arm, and nose. The police have not made any arrests, and no weapons have been recovered yet. Investigators are working to determine if multiple weapons were involved in the shooting.
The police are also investigating a crashed Hyundai found at the scene and reports of earlier disturbances in the park. The area, located just off Kelly Drive north of Boathouse Row, is known for being a popular spot for cookouts.
