Phillies Complete Sweep of Rays

The Philadelphia Phillies (22-15) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (16-21) 7-6 in ten innings on Thursday night at Steinbrenner Field. With the win, the Phillies completed a three-game sweep in the interleague series with the Rays.

After both teams traded runs in the first inning, the Rays took a 5-1 lead in the seventh thanks to a three-run homer from Yandy Diaz. The Phillies answered with a three-run homer in the eighth Bryson Stott in the eighth to pull within 5-4, before tying the game in the ninth to make it 5-5 and force extras.

The Phillies got two in their half of the tenth to take a 7-5 lead. The Rays only got one run in their half of the tenth as Philadelphia held on to a 7-6 win.

The Rays now turn their attention to a three-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers which begins on Friday night. First pitch Friday is scheduled for 7:05 PM - pregame coverage begins with Ronnie Lane hosting the Inside Pitch at 6:00 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
