Rays Drop Sixth Straight In Extras

The Kansas City Royals (34-19) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (25-28) 7-4 in eleven innings at Tropicana Field. The loss is the sixth in a row for Tampa Bay.

This was a back and forth game throughout - after Kansas City got one in the second and one in the third, the Rays got a run in the both the fourth and fifth to tie the game 2-2. The teams then exchanged runs in the seventh to make it 3-3, which would be the score at the end of nine innings.

The Royals got a run in the top of the tenth, but Johnny DeLuca tied the game with a RBI double with two outs in the bottom of the tenth to make it 4-4. The Royals broke through with three in the top of the eleventh, which would prove to be the difference in this game.

The Rays now look to avoid being swept when they meet the Royals in the series finale on Sunday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 1:40 PM - pregame coverage begins with Chris Adams-Wall hosting This Week In Rays Baseball at high noon on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620 your Home of Rays Baseball.
