WIDE OPEN WEDNESDAY: Racism Edition

Itā€™s a topic thatā€™s dividing the country, yet it shouldnā€™t be.I donā€™t know anyone who proudly claims to be a racist.Does racism exist? Most certainly it does.Does it play out in horrible, ugly ways across the country?Yes, it does that, too.Is it common among decent people?I donā€™t believe so.Yet, there are cases where racism rears its ugly head and the results are devastating.Weā€™ll have a Florida example later in todayā€™s show.

Racism has been grabbed and used by those who donā€™t seem to care about the issue at all to bring division, strife and anarchy to Americaā€™s streets. Then, there are those who have serious concerns about the issue who are drawn in and have fanned the flamesā€¦ and just may have missed an opportunity to bring unity and understanding.NASCARā€™s Bubba Wallace may be one such person. His initial reaction to the ā€œnooseā€ was understandable. His reaction when it was discovered the rope was not directed at him was the missed opportunity.

Then, there are those who are grasping at straws to place a racist label on things that are not racist at all.ā€œThe Mastersā€ golf tournament is IN A HANDBASKET THIS MORNING.

Andā€¦in Oregon the coronavirus has brought out the racism of those who are making the rules as the response to the virus continues.

Thatā€™s the ground we tread on BML this morning, but itā€™s WIDE OPEN WEDNESDAY and when we hit the phones we are open to any topic youā€™d like to discuss. As always, the question remains:
