Brevard-Back to Business?

Like a lot of guys, I miss sports. The hockey season was heated up and headed for playoffs. So was the NBA (not that I care) and March Madness came in a form other than the one we are used to from the NCAA. Baseball was in Spring Training and the sports channels were busy. Now, they struggle for content and I’ve seen some classic games in several sports that were actually fun to watch.ESPN, our first dedicated sports network, is hit especially hard. They made their brand on highlights, results, statistics and nicknames (thank you Chris Berman).

In recent years the network grew more and more political in its coverage as the sports world began to intersect with real life.Social media is a big factor here.Clearly the network itself has a left lean and has been known to discipline conservative commentary from its announcers and not be so heavy handed on its liberal ones. And while much of ESPN’s programming is parked for now, the network’s philosophy is very consistent. Our first story of the day will demonstrate it.
