Judge Prohibits Talk Of Dixon Case In Markeith Loyd Trial

(Orlando, FL) -- A ruling in Orange County means lawyers will have to watch what they say in the trial of an accused cop killer. Markeith Loyd is due to stand trial in May for killing Orlando Police Lieutenant Debra Clayton two years ago, and a judge yesterday ruled that lawyers cannot mention Loyd's conviction last year for murdering his pregnant ex-girlfriend. It was during the search for Loyd in that case that prosecutors say Loyd shot and killed Clayton.

Cruz Lawyer Claims Attack On Jail Guard Could Have Been Prevented

(Fort Lauderdale, FL) -- Nikolas Cruz's lawyer says the Broward County Sheriff's office could have prevented a fight between her client and a jail guard. The confessed Parkland school shooter fought with Sergeant Raymond Beltran over a year ago at the Main Jail. Newly released records show Cruz's public defender claims she warned the sheriff's office about having Beltran supervise Cruz because of ongoing friction between the two. CBS4 News reports the jail director replied that inmates don't get to choose who supervises them, and he added the situation could have been avoided if Cruz chose not to attack Beltran. 

Iowans Caucus In St. Pete

(St. Petersburg, FL) -- Unlike in their home state, there's no confusion over who some local Iowans want to be president next year. A satellite Iowa caucus was held last night in St. Petersburg, and Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar [[ KLOE-bush-ar ]] was declared the winner. This is the first year Iowa Democrats have allowed caucuses to be held in other states, and an overflow crowd packed St. Andrew Lutheran Church. One snowbird drove about 200 miles to get to the caucus site, and he told ABC Action News this is the most important election in his lifetime.

Tampa Considering Plastics Ban

(Tampa, FL) -- A man who pushed for a ban on some plastics in St. Petersburg is taking his cause to Tampa. Christian Leon helped shape St. Pete's policy that banned plastic straws over a year ago. Tampa officials last week discussed passing their own restrictions on single-use plastics, but city attorneys recommended not rushing into anything because of possible lawsuits. Leon, though, recently told 10News if it worked in St. Pete there's no reason why it wouldn't work in Tampa. 

Study Looks At Bacteria On Shopping Carts

(Pembroke Park, FL) -- There's new research to suggest you might want to use those bacteria wipes on your next shopping trip. Testing was done recently on shopping cart handles at different grocery stores across South Florida, and the results were, in the words of one scientist, off the charts. Seven of 10 samples tested showed high bacteria levels. Dr. Peter Kmieck tells Local 10 News it's scary to see the kind of bacteria levels on shopping carts that you usually see in raw sewage. 

Man Arrested After Calling Police 25 Times Asking For Help Finding Missing Sweatshirt

(Cincinnati, OH) -- A Cincinnati man is facing a felony charge for calling police 25-times to report a missing sweatshirt. Court records say Harves Gardner is now facing a count of disrupting public services. Police say Gardner kept asking police to drive him around town to look for his piece of clothing. He will be in court Tuesday.

Texas Man Arrested For Allegedly Walking Around Naked

(San Antonio, TX) -- A man is in custody on claims he walked around a Texas neighborhood naked. Sheriff's deputies say 34-year-old Gilbert Ramos Jr. was arrested over the weekend after a Bexar County neighbor identified him. They believe he's the man spotted on surveillance video strolling nude in the front yard of another San Antonio home. Ramos has been charged with indecent exposure.

Couple Wins Lottery On 70th Anniversary

(Lumberton, NC) -- A couple is celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary and their lottery ticket jackpot. James and Maxine Hilliker of Lumberton, North Carolina have been playing the same numbers while playing Cash 5 every Tuesday for more than 22 years. The couple went to collect their win on James' 90th birthday. The prize cashes out at more than 760-thousand-dollars and is being used to go on a cruise to celebrate their marriage.
