Amato Spared The Death Penalty 

(Sanford, FL) -- A man who killed his parents and brother won't be put to death. A jury last night in Seminole County sentenced Grant Amato to life in prison for January's triple homicide at his family's home in Chuluota. Amato was found guilty last month of first-degree murder, and prosecutors asked for the death penalty. The 30-year-old will spend the rest of his life in a state prison with no chance of parole.  

Teen Arrested For Shooting 

(Panama City, FL) -- The search for a teenage shooting suspect in Bay County is over. Panama City police announced last night that 17-year-old Isaiah Pierre was arrested. He was wanted for shooting another kid last week at Oakland Terrace Park, but there's no word on a motive. The victim is expected to survive.

Jacksonville Records 100th Murder Of 2019 

(Jacksonville, FL) -- Two people are dead as Jacksonville hits a tragic milestone. Yesterday's deaths of a 17-year-old boy and a man in separate shootings bring the city's murder count this year to 100. This is the earliest the city has recorded its 100th murder in almost 15 years. Jacksonville's murder rate is 33-percent higher than it was at this point last year, and it's on pace to break the 12-year-old record for most homicides in a year. 

Gruters Blames 'Charged Rhetoric' For Postponing Immigration Listening Tour 

(Tallahassee, FL) -- Charged rhetoric is the reason a state lawmaker is postponing his immigration listening tour. Sarasota State Senator Joe Gruters was planning to tour the state to discuss illegal immigration, but he has put those plans on hold. He told the News Service of Florida yesterday the political climate has made it too difficult to have a truly productive listening tour. The tour was to start a week from yesterday, and it included a stop in St. Petersburg. 

Suspect Found Hiding In Box Spring 

(Titusville, FL) -- A K9 is credited with arresting a woman who made a creative attempt to hide from police in Brevard County. Acting on a tip this weekend, a Cocoa police officer and a K9 entered a motel room looking for Acasia Fuscaldo, who had a warrant out for her arrest. K9 Kyra sniffed out Fuscaldo, who was found hiding in a hole she cut out in the box spring. Sheriff Wayne Ivey says the moral of the story is don't play hide-and-seek with a cop who has a K9 partner.

Marked Police Vehicle Stolen In Miami-Dade County 

(Coral Gables, FL) -- A search is underway to find someone who pulled off a daring robbery in Miami-Dade County. Coral Gables police say someone stole a marked SUV Sunday night from outside an officer's home. The SUV was found yesterday in Little River under I-95. It had sustained a broken window and a lock box was pried open, but nothing of value was stolen.  

British Worker Urinates On Pea Production Line 

(Hull, England) -- Police in Britain are investigating after a video reportedly shows a disgruntled working urinating on a pea production line. The eight-second video is said to have been taken at a plant for Bird's Eye frozen foods in Hull. The Sun reports the angry worker told co-workers the stunt was a "F-U" to the company on his last shift. Police are trying to determine if the stream was from pee or a prank involving a factory hose. If it was urine, Bird Eye may have to toss out 10-thousand tons of peas.
