Kim Kardashian is no stranger to getting criticized on Instagram. With 136 million followers, at least some of them will always have something negative to say no matter what the reality star posts. However, photos that Kim shared this week have more than just the usual trolls dragging her. The pics come from Kardashian's recent trip to Bali with husband Kanye West. In them, she can be seen posing with an elephant. In one shot, the animal is being ridden by a handler as Kim touches its trunk. In another, she's caressing the trunk standing next to a smiling Kanye, and in a third, the pachyderm's trunk is wrapped around Kim.
She captioned the post, "Missing Bali! 🌿🐘 and the amazing elephant sanctuary."
It didn't take long for the backlash to begin and of the 36,000 comments, a majority are from fans angry with Kim for referring to the attraction as an "elephant sanctuary." Some went so far to accuse her of animal cruelty.
Internet sleuths figured out that the "sanctuary" is actually the Mason Elephant Park and Lodge. The elephant park also posted about Kim and Kanye's visit.
As their name states, it is a park and not a sanctuary. They offer elephant shows and give visitors an opportunity to ride, touch, bathe and take pictures with the animals.
While many elephants live in Bali, there are no sanctuaries for them in the country.
