CDC Says Flu Shots Nearly 50% Effective This Season

Federal health officials say the flu shot is doing a pretty good job this season. A new report from the CDC on Thursday shows the vaccine is nearly 50% effective against the virus strains in circulation. That's better than last year. Children and teens appear to be better protected with an effectiveness rate above 60%. Flu activity is widespread in at least 47 states and the season can last as late as May.
