Man On FBI's 'Ten Most Wanted' List Killed In Shootout

A fugitive who was on the FBI's "Ten Most Wanted" list was killed in a shootout with federal agents in North Carolina. Greg Alyn Carlson was added to the list in September 2018 after being accused of "multiple armed sexual assaults in Los Angeles, California."

The FBI received a tip from the Apex Police Department that Carlson was staying at a Woodspring Suites and they began to surveil the room he was reportedly in. When the agents moved in to arrest him, shots were fired, and Carlson was killed.

He was originally arrested in September 2017 but fled after being released on bond. Authorities believed he made his way to South Carolina where he stole a gun and managed to obtain a large sum of cash, which he used to rent a car. In November, he managed to escape capture after leading authorities on a high-speed chase in Alabama. Following that incident, a federal warrant was issued for his arrest.
