Deadly Home Invasion In Brevard County

(Mims,  FL)  -- Two people are dead after an apparent home invasion in Brevard County. Deputies say a resident shot two masked men yesterday on West Court in Mims. One of the suspects was found dead inside the home, and the other was found in the street and passed away at the hospital. They have not been identified, and no charges have been announced.

Caretaker Arrested For Fathering Child With Disabled Woman

(Rockledge,  FL)  -- A caretaker is accused of fathering a child with a developmentally disabled woman in Brevard County. Willie Shorter's arrest this week came more than four years after the woman at Bridges in Rockledge was found to be pregnant. He was arrested on Wednesday when DNA tests confirmed he was the father. The baby is now three-years-old and in the care of the woman's family.

Email Raises Ethics Concerns

(Tallahassee,  FL)  -- An email is raising ethics concerns in Tallahassee. An email last month from the city directed nonprofits that receive city funding to provide city officials with free tickets to fundraising events. State ethics laws prevent officials from receiving what are called 'things of value,' and some nonprofits were worried that not providing the tickets would cause them to lose funding. A city spokesperson recently told the Tallahassee Democrat the email was not properly vetted, and it will be corrected.

Man Shot After Tasing Officers

(Inverness,  FL)  -- A registered sex offender is hurt after a deputy-involved shooting in Citrus County. The incident started yesterday when deputies saw 41-year-old Jeremy Jennings, who was wanted for assault, driving in Inverness. Deputies pulled him over, and while trying to take him into custody, they say Jennings grabbed a deputy's Taser and used it against two officers before another deputy opened fire. Jennings was taken to the hospital, and he's expected to survive.

Four Honored For Saving Deputy's Life

(Orlando,  FL)  -- An Orange County deputy is alive today thanks to the heroic actions of four people. The mayor yesterday honored those Good Samaritans who saved the life of Sergeant Jamie Hoffman after a crash in July. Hoffman's patrol car was on fire when the four dragged him, unconscious, out of the car. Hoffman was able to thank his saviors in person yesterday, and he praised them for their courage and faith.

Montana Cat Stuck In Snow

(Kalispell, MT) -- A cat in Montana used up one of its nine lives after getting stuck in the snow. The cat called Fluffy was found buried in the snow in Kalispell when it was just ten-degrees outside last week. Fluffy was frozen and unresponsive when he was taken to the vet's office, but doctors were able to revive him. Vets poured warm water on the cat and used heating pads to get her back to life. Fluffy is back at home and is doing well.
