Wife Of UCF Faculty Member Charged With Murder In Husband's Death

(Orlando,  FL)  -- The death of a UCF faculty member in Orange County is believed to be a murder, and his wife is under arrest. Winter Park Police yesterday arrested Danielle Redlick for the stabbing death of Michael Redlick last month in their home on Temple Drive. She claims his death was a suicide. Sixty-five-year-old Michael Redlick had been with UCF for five years in the Sports Business Management Program.  

State Board Will Subpoena UCF Officials Over Misspent Money 

(Tallahassee,  FL)  -- The state is taking steps to get to the bottom of UCF's spending practices. A House committee voted yesterday to subpoena some school officials, including President Dale Whittaker and former President John Hitt. The school has admitted to using operating funds for building construction, which is not allowed. Ormond Beach State Rep. Tom Leek heads the committee, and he says he's worried the school doesn't understand how serious an issue this is.  

Daytona Beach Cracks Down On Panhandling 

(Daytona Beach,  FL)  -- Daytona Beach is cracking down on panhandling. The city commission yesterday voted to ban expand bans that already exist around some places, like the Boardwalk and add more places where the practice is banned. There's also a ban on aggressive panhandling, which is described as being within two feet of someone, being loud or verbally abusive and harassing someone. The police chief says enforcement will start today, and he tells the News-Journal officers are going to make the streets safe again. 

Brevard Zoo Defends Public Money For Aquarium 

(Melbourne,  FL)  -- Public funding for a new feature planned at Brevard Zoo could be in jeopardy. Zoo official Keith Winsten says he found out yesterday that County Commissioner John Tobia wants to withdraw ten-million dollars the county had already promised for a new aquarium at the zoo. At next week's commission meeting, Tobia will call for the money to be spent on other projects related to the Indian River Lagoon. Winsten, though, tells Florida Today there's no better investment than the aquarium because it can teach people about the lagoon and how to protect it. 

Serial Flasher Wanted In Tampa 

(Tampa,  FL)  -- Women in Tampa should be aware of some recent disturbing incidents. Hillsborough County deputies say a man has exposed himself a handful of times in Westchase in the last week. The most recent incident happened Tuesday when two teenage girls were apparently victimized. The man is described as Hispanic, in his 20s, with black hair, glasses and he's said to be driving a white car with tinted windows. 

More Than 83-Thousand Floridians Cast Vote That Didn't Count In Governor's Race 

(Tallahassee,  FL)  -- A new report shows more than 83-thousand Floridians did not cast a valid vote for governor in November. Many find that revelation especially troubling, because of how close the election was. The report says the ballots in question were discarded for various reasons, but it's not clear if the outcome of the race would have been any different.  

Name A Cockroach After Your Ex At The El Paso Zoo 

(El Paso, TX) -- El Paso's zoo is giving people a creepy-crawly way to get back at their exes this Valentine's Day. For just a couple of bucks the zoo will allow you to name a cockroach after your ex and then watch as the roach is fed to meerkats. The feeding will even be live streamed on the zoo's Facebook page on Valentine's Day.
