Pregnant Woman Shot  (Orlando, FL) -- An unborn child is dead after a shooting in Orange County. It happened Saturday night in The Willows at the Los Robles Apartments on Silver Star Road. A woman who was seven-months pregnant was shot, along with the father of the baby, and, while they survived, her baby did not. The man and woman are in stable condition, but there's no word on a suspect or motive.

Strip Mall Stores Robbed  (Altamonte Springs, FL) -- A search is underway to find robbers who targeted a strip mall in Seminole County. It happened early yesterday morning in Altamonte Springs at Winn Dixie Plaza near West Town Parkway. Police say the burglars cut the power to the buildings before breaking in. There's no word on how much was stolen, and no arrests have been announced.

Pasco County Family Loses Two Paychecks In Shutdown  (Odessa, FL) -- An impasse in Washington is hitting close to home for a Pasco County family. Odessa's Rob Hoss and his wife are air traffic controllers at Tampa International Airport, and because of the government shutdown, they both missed their paychecks on Friday. Robert is also a rep for the union, and he met last week with local members of Congress to urge them to find a deal to end the shutdown. Hoss tells 10News, in the meantime, he and his wife will keep working and keep staying positive for their children.

State Trooper Prevents Man's Suicide  (St. Petersburg, FL) -- A state trooper is credited with saving a man's life in Pinellas County. FHP Trooper Tabarie Sullivan found a man last week on the Sunshine Skyway Bridge who was thinking of jumping off. Sullivan says he started talking to the man about life and the children they each have, and when Sullivan thought it was safe to grab the man, he did so, along with Captain Richard Benton. Sullivan tells News Channel 8 he knew he had to get the man to realize he had more to live for.

Florida Pro Surfing Competition Starts Today  (Sebastian Inlet, FL) -- Some of the best surfers in the world are in Brevard County for a competition that starts today. The World Surf League's Florida Pro gets underway at Sebastian Inlet State Park and lasts all week. The competition will feature Floridana Beach native Caroline Marks, who, at 16-years-old, is the reigning WSL Rookie of the Year. She tells Florida Today her goal now is to someday be world champ.

Field Goal Challenge Unsuccessful In Chicago  (Chicago, IL) -- Chicago Bears fans looking for a chance to win tickets to any NFL game of their choosing next year came up a little bit short. A large crowd braved the cold this weekend to attempt a field goal outside the Goose Island Brewery. Fans had to successfully kick what Bears' kicker Cody Parkey missed during the Wild Card game against the Philadelphia Eagles -- a 43-yard field goal. No one, however, was successful. If someone was able to convert the kick, they would have won the free tickets to any NFL game in addition to airfare and a hotel room.

NYC Holds Annual No Pants Subway Ride  (New York City, NY) -- Sunday marked the 18th annual New York City's No Pants Subway Ride. The frigid weather were no deterrent to those taking part in the annual event, in which participants ride the subway without their pants on. The event is organized by the group Improv Everywhere, who started it as a prank in the New York City subway in 2002. The No Pants Subway Ride has now spread to 60 other cities.

2000, in a massive demonstration demanding the return of six-year-old Cuban refugee Elian Gonzalez, tens of thousands of Cubans marched in Havana. The boy's mother had drowned as they tried to enter the United States in November of 1999. He was turned over to relatives in Miami who fought to keep Elian in the U.S.

1973, the Miami Dolphins defeated the Washington Redskins 14-to-seven in Super Bowl Seven. The Dolphins' victory completed the only undefeated season in NFL history.
