A Missouri man drowned in a shallow pond on New Year's Day after he slipped and fell while trying to clear a beaver dam. Police found 29-year-old Caleb James Bruno face down in eight-inches of water and attempted to resuscitate him but were unsuccessful.
Investigators said there were no signs of trauma and believe that Bruno may have suffered from a medical incident before falling into the shallow pond.
Bruno's neighbors and friends could not believe that he had died.
“I’ve been shocked all day and yesterday evening I was shocked and today I’m shocked,” Karen Goodson told Fox2.
Bruno loved being outdoors and was always willing to help his neighbors take care of their property.
“He out here weed eating the grass for the neighbors and everything he was walking around taking care of everybody, even his dad,” Taylor Gillam said.
