Death Toll From Michael Climbs  (Panama City, FL) -- Search and rescue efforts in Bay County aren't bringing much good news. Four bodies were found yesterday in a search of Mexico Beach, where Hurricane Michael first made landfall last week. That brings the death toll for the county to 15, which is the highest of the state. Across the state, 23 people died from the storm, including three in Jackson County, two in Gadsden County and one in Gulf County.

Florida Supreme Court Says OK To Bundle Ballot Provisions  (Tallahassee, FL) -- The Florida Supreme Court says it's ok to bundle some wide-ranging constitutional amendments on next month’s ballot, even though they are completely unrelated. For example, Amendment 7 requires a super-majority vote by a college board of trustees to increase tuition, but it also increases death benefits for spouses of military members and first responders killed in the line of duty. A lower court initially struck down Amendments 7, 9 and 11 after opposition surfaced, but now they will appear on the ballot as written.

Red Tide Confirmed In Space Coast  (Titusville, FL) -- The Space Coast now has to deal with a problem that Gulf Coast beaches have been dealing with for months. State health officials announced yesterday that red tide has been found off Brevard County. The highest concentrations were found off Satellite Beach at Pelican Beach Park. Concerns about red tide started after people started seeing dead fish washing up on beaches this week, and residents have complained of breathing problems.

Woman Hurt In Highway Mishap  (Rockledge, FL) -- A pickup truck driver is being blamed for a freak highway accident here in Brevard. FHP says a Melbourne woman was driving on I-95 last week behind a truck that was carrying plywood when one plywood board came loose. The board partially went through the woman's windshield and left her with minor injuries. The driver of the pickup truck was cited for not securing the board.

Biketoberfest Starts Today  (Daytona Beach, FL) -- Daytona Beach is about to get loud with the sounds of roaring motorcycles. The 26th annual Biketoberfest gets underway today with bikers from around the country expected. Some local hotels are reporting fewer bookings this year, but hotel trade group president Bob Davis is still optimistic. He tells the Daytona Beach News-Journal Hurricane Michael will have no impact, and this year's event will be bigger than last year's.

Police Arrest Ice Cream Truck Driver On Stalking Charge  (South Glens Falls, NY) - A Mister Ding-a-Ling ice cream truck driver is accused of stalking. Officials in South Glens Falls, New York, say Charles Ross followed a group of children near a middle school earlier this month taking pictures. The 57-year-old operates the Ding-a-Ling truck but is now off the streets. He was placed in a jail cell on felony stalking charges and police are going through his things to figure out what he was actually up to.
