Police Hunting For Inmate Who Escaped Jail Inside A Trash Can

Jeremy Hunt

Police in Kentucky are searching for a man who managed to escape a minimum security prison in Louisville over the weekend. On Saturday night, Jeremy Hunt and Justin Stumler were smuggled out of the jail's kitchen inside of two trash cans. The men were working in the kitchen at the time of their escape and were helped by three other inmates, who loaded them into the trash cans and carried them out to the dumpsters.

A bystander witnessed the two prisoners crawling out of the trash and alerted authorities. Police managed to track down Stumler about seven miles from the prison, but are still trying to locate Hunt.

Hunt was arrested in June and was facing multiple burglary charges. Stumler was in jail after being arrested in August on charges of motor vehicle theft, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, felony drug possession, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Prison officials said that inmates Gary Bradford, Tajuan Burton, and Justin Rankin were charged with two counts of facilitation of second-degree escape for their role in helping Hunt and Stumler break out.
