Dozens Protest Outside DeSantis' Office (Port Orange, FL) -- Some of Ron DeSantis' constituents believe his 'monkey this up' comment shows something deeper than just a poor choice of words. Dozens rallied yesterday in Volusia County outside the Republican congressman's Port Orange office. The Republican nominee for governor has been criticized for saying this week on Fox News that voting for Democrat Andrew Gillum, who's black, would monkey up the progress the state has made under GOP leadership. A Palm Coast woman at yesterday's rally told the News Journal that comment shows DeSantis stands for hate, bigotry, prejudice and white supremacy.
Teen Hit By Train (Orlando, FL) -- A teenager is hurt after getting hit by a SunRail train in Orange County. It happened late yesterday afternoon off Long Stem Court near the Meadow Woods station. The 14-year-old had to be airlifted to the hospital, and he's in serious condition.
No Bail For Man Accused Of Killing Wife (Orlando, FL) -- A man accused of killing his wife in Orlando won't be getting out of jail anytime soon. David Tronnes was in court yesterday for the murder of Shanti Cooper-Tronnes at their home in Delaney Park four months ago. A judge ordered him to be held without bail. Cooper-Tronnes' grandmother tells the Orlando Sentinel Tronnes was standoffish, bossy and would sometimes yell at his wife, and she also tells Channel 9 she suspected Tronnes as soon as she heard about her granddaughter's death.
Man Arrested For Child Sex Abuse (St. Cloud, FL) -- A man is facing child sex abuse charges in Osceola County, and police are worried there could be more victims around the country. St. Cloud Police have arrested 46-year-old Jan Toth for abusing two girls for almost a decade, starting when one of the girls was four-years-old. The mother of the girls tells Channel 9 Toth lived with them for seven years and was an essential part of the family. Police are in touch with other departments outside Florida to see if Toth may have other victims.
