Wild Brawl Spills Out Of Funeral Home Onto New York City Streets

A scuffle between two women at a funeral home in New York City turned into a wild melee that spilled out onto the street. Police officers were called to George H. Weldon Funeral Home in Harlem after a fight broke out between family and friends during a wake. When police arrived to break up the fight, they were forced to use a taser to subdue one of the combatants.

After the officer fired his taser, the crowd turned on the police and the melee quickly spread onto the sidewalk and in front of a restaurant next door.

A witness told the New York Post he heard the taser and thought it was a gunshot at first.

“I heard the Taser pop and I thought it was a gun at first. And then the people started screaming, and the people were pushing the cops, and the cops started pushing the people,” witness Angel Gutierrez said.

After the man was tased and went down everything went crazy.

“He (the man tased) just went down — mostly the people around him got crazy,” Gutierrez said. “They started screaming, some lady was like, ‘That’s my brother, what’s wrong with you?!’ Some guy started screaming at the top of his lungs.”

Two people were arrested and two officers received treatment for bite marks. Police did not say what caused the initial fight. Charges against the two individuals are pending.
