RNC Finance Chairman Resigns Following Sexual Assault Allegations

Republican National Committee finance chairman Steve Wynn has stepped down from his position according to a report from Politico that cites three senior Republicans briefed on the decision.

Wynn stepped down in the wake of a report in the Wall Street Journal that alleged the casino mogul engaged in sexual harassment and pressured workers to perform sex acts. The WSJ's report was based on interviews with dozens of people, one of whom was a manicurist who said she was pressured into having sex with him, despite her objections.

"Today I accepted Steve Wynn’s resignation as Republican National Committee Finance Chair," RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel said in a statement. The 76-year-old Wynn was Trump's first choice for the finance position.

The RNC has not yet announced who will replace him.
