Some real news on fake news: Newsweek reports President Trump's favorite phrase has been named the 2017 Word of the Year by Collins Dictionary, which defines "fake news" as "false, often sensational, information disseminated under the guise of news reporting."
Collins states the phrase, use of which has increased by 365% since 2016, "has been inescapable this year." Other finalists for Word of the Year included "antifa,"gender-fluid," and "fidget spinner."
The head of language content at Collins admits many of the words under consideration for 2017 were "definitely politically charged," according to CNBC.
