POLICING THE CROWD...OR VISA VERSA
Public Opinion is a wonderful and dangerous thing. Itās one thing to know how people feel on an issue. Itās completely another when that āfeelingā drives traditions or actions of institutions in our country. We have several bad examples of this all around us! If you watch Foxās THE ORVILLE you saw an example of how our society is beginning to operate in last weekās episode.
George Washington was a man of faith. His church doesnāt care and remembering he went to that church, still existing today, is apparently a no-no. It might offend someone. Recalling Washington was worshiping the same God in the same place is now a problem? How? This church has lost its way.
A Houston Astros star is under fire for a gesture to an opponent during the heat of competition. MLB reacted to the public opinion and sports media is part of the problem. Last week it was cultural appropriation in Halloween costumes. Now āwhite beautyā is a problem if you arenāt appropriating another culture!
In PERSON OF INTEREST a computer program allowed citizens of NYC to be followed and profiled for likely criminal behavior. It was fantasyā¦WAS. A city in China is doing it.
Hanoi Jane is victim blaming in the Harvey Weinstein case. Itās not like his victims chose Weinsteinās tastes for him!
The Mitch Needelman trial is in the hands of the jury. What do you think? Was the case strong enough for conviction? Are there missing witnesses? And whatās coming for the other defendants?
How does providing rides for seniors come before feeding them? When charity becomes political thatās what we get. But, it may not be over. And, speaking of politics, the Democrats in Brevard are getting active in non-partisan city elections. Good. Activism is good and those who are whining about it need to learn how to win elections as opposed to complaining that people are getting involved.
