NYC To Announce Violent Crime is Down

Violent crime is reportedly down in New York City with homicides and shootings at record lows. Mayor Bill de Blasio and Police Commissioner James O'Neill are expected to provide more details at a monthly crime briefing this afternoon.  There are reports serious crimes including homicide, rape and robberies dropped six-percent from last year.

It's expected the two will also be questioned about the overwhelming police presence and security checks at the J'Ouvert celebration in Brooklyn yesterday after years of violence including three people shot dead.
