We begin our morning surrounded by idiots. There are reports of people using sunscreen on their eyeballs to try and watch the solar eclipse. And if you are a looter just remember-Hurricane Harvey brings looters justice. The University of Maryland is scrapping the state song from its performances because its roots are in the Confederacy.
Good news in Palm Bay as the follow up to the Homes for Warriors situation is working. The city has settled with the owners who were trying to sell the house and skip out on provisions that had provided it for free. Florida Today Executive Editor Bob Gabordi fired back at Brevard Superintendent of Schools Desmond Blackburn and Board Member Andy Ziegler for making claims that a Florida Today report sabotaged negotiations with Harris/EDR in the failed software situation. The County Commission has approved a trash rate hike to replenish the county’s reserves for storms.
Satellite Beach’s Scotty Culp named to the Florida Women’s Hall of Fame. The former Florida House Speaker who couldn’t manage to keep the House open in his first session, Steve Crisafulli, is staking a claim to lagoon clean up. We just have to wonder how that new football field at Merritt Island High is helping…and what did the female athletes get out of it, or does equal treatment only apply to baseball and softball.
