Our next planned launch from the Space Coast is set for this Friday morning, August 18, at 8:03 a.m. EDT. A United Launch Alliance Atlas 5 rocket is to carry a NASA tracking and communications satellite into Earth orbit.
The Atlas 5 rocket was moved to its Cape Canaveral Air Force Station launch pad on Wednesday. The weather forecast for Friday looks good, with a 70 percent chance of acceptable conditions during the 40-minute launch window.
According to an analysis done by Justin Ray at SpaceflightNow.com, historically during the past 15 years there is a 77 percent chance the Atlas 5 will make it off the ground on its first try.
WMMB will offer live updates of the countdown and launch during Friday's edition of Bill Mick Live.
