Brevard County Deputy Arrested For Domestic Violence

(Brevard Co., FL) -- A Brevard County Deputy has been arrested for allegedly roughing up his estranged wife. Edward Lemons was arrested Tuesday after Melbourne police responded twice to the officer's apartment over domestic violence. The man's wife told police said he grabbed her and threw her to the ground. Authorities said she had cuts and bruises that required treatment at Holmes Regional Medical Center. Deputy Lemons was booked into the Brevard County jail and suspended without pay pending an internal investigation.

Police Officer Fired For Excessive Force Against Teenager

(Clearwater, FL) -- After four years, a police officer is out of a job after what his boss calls a mistake that cannot be overlooked. Clearwater Police Chief Dan Slaughter announced yesterday that Officer Michael Leonardo was fired for mishandling a 13-year-old suspect last month. Video shows that while the boy was handcuffed Leonardo slammed him face-first to the sidewalk. Leonardo told investigators he thought the boy was trying to get away but later admitted he could have made a better choice.

UCF Student Arrested Over Grade Change

(Orlando, FL) -- A University of Central Florida student is arrested for allegedly changing a grade. Twenty-two-year-old engineering student Sami Ammar turned himself into the Orange County jail yesterday on an arrest warrant. He's accused of changing an "F" grade in his class to a "B" earlier this month after sneaking into one of the school's building late night. He was released on bond. Was the arrest for breaking and entering or for changing the grade?  If it’s for the latter our schools think way too much of themselves!  This should be an internal disciplinary issue, not a crime.

FSU Fraternity Facing Dismissal From Campus

(Tallahassee, FL) -- A fraternity at Florida State University is facing possible dismissal over hazing allegations after a meeting today. FSU's Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities is meeting with Zeta Beta Tau to discuss the results of months-long investigation. The fraternity came under fire during the fall semester after they were accused of drugging and assaulting pledges. Seven members of Zeta Beta Tau were arrested as part of initial hazing investigation. That’s more like it.  Maybe when UCF grows up it can be more like FSU and save criminal charges for actual crimes!
