John Morgan Pushing For Cannabis Special Session

(Orlando, FL) -- An Orlando attorney and possible Democratic candidate for governor. John Morgan is is pushing for a special session on medical marijuana. The potential gubernatorial hopeful was the main backer of Florida's successful 2016 initiative to legalize medicinal use of marijuana. Morgan fired off a series a tweets Saturday urging Republican Governor Rick Scott to call a special session on pot. Amendment Two passed in the November election statewide by a nearly 3-to-1 margin, but state lawmakers failed to codify regulations ahead of this week's end of Florida's 2017 legislative session. Under ballot rules, the state Health Department could now be tasked with developing rules for its distribution. John Morgan, for the dopers!

Jacksonville's Mayor Declines Florida CFO Run

(Jacksonville, FL) -- Jacksonville's mayor is declining a job offer from Governor Rick Scott. Mayor Lenny Curry said in a statement Saturday that he is "not seeking an appointment" to become the state's next Chief Financial Officer. The word came days after the governor explicitly said to the press that Curry would be good for the job. Current CFO Jeff Atwater is expected to step down this month. Jacksonville's mayor said he remains committed to serving Jacksonville as mayor.
