Legislative Session Extended, Deal Reached

(Tallahassee, FL) -- Florida legislative leaders say they've made a deal on the state's 83-billion dollar state budget, but the earliest a vote can happen is Monday. It's the second time in three years Florida lawmakers could not wrap up its work on time. Wasn’t one of those years when Steve Crisafulli took the House toys and went home?  Why, yes, it was!

Latvala Supports Scott's Action On Opioid Epidemic

(Tallahassee, FL) -- Yesterday Governor Rick Scott officially declared the opioid epidemic to be a public health emergency. That means he can spend money to fight the epidemic without support from the Legislature, and the state can also accept federal grant money. Clearwater State Senator Jack Latvala tells the "Times/Herald" it doesn't matter how long it took Scott to get to this point as long as he's done it.
