We like to believe that we elect people to improve how our governments operate and impact our lives. We like to believe that, but can we? Some of our topics today will make us wonder.
Like New York lawmakers trying to erase our culture one word at a time. And not just western culture, all of mankind’s history is in play.
Then there’s the Texas mom who was jailed for complaining about water issues in her community on Facebook. Does the first amendment still apply in Texas (or anywhere else for that matter)?
We are seeing progress in the Minnesota fraud cases that have been in focus for a while. And the Florida Supreme Court is allowing the newly drawn congressional districts to remain for the upcoming elections. Qualifying ends tomorrow which means our work is ahead of us.
Once we see who’s running for what, we can begin discerning just who is the best fit for which offices. It’s not an easy job, but it should be easier when we have an elected official running for reelection. Have they done the job ethically and as they campaigned that they would? Yes? Keep them. No? Have the courage to throw them out. It’s sad that the parties don’t have the integrity to do that. It’s sad that other elected officials won’t do that, either.
In the end, it is up to us. It’s why being engaged and well informed are so important.
