Part Of Alligator Alcatraz Lawsuit Axed

(Miami, FL) -- A federal judge in Miami is dismissing part of the Alligator Alcatraz lawsuit regarding the legal rights of detainees. Judge Rodolfo Ruiz says even though the migrant detention center is in Miami-Dade County, most of the land is in Collier County, so cases should be handled by Florida's middle district. He also says claims that detainees are being denied due process are moot since the Krome North Processing Center was recently designated for their cases. The case will now address First Amendment violations, including delays in attorney meetings and lack of confidentiality during phone or video conferences.

Suspect Arrested In Seminole County Attack

(Sanford, FL) -- A man is in custody after a woman was attacked in Seminole County. Patrick Gamache was arrested yesterday after Monday's incident near Altamonte Springs. The sheriff's office says a woman was walking on the Seminole Wekiva Trail when Gamache grabbed her and dragged her toward the wood line. A passerby heard her scream and called 911. The 20-year-old Gamache is charged with sexual assault and battery. Sheriff Dennis Lemma praised the victim for tremendous courage and strength in recounting the details to detectives. Lemma says that critical information allowed deputies to swiftly identify, locate and apprehend Gamache.  

Two Arrested For Robbing People After Following Them Home From Clubs

(Miami, FL) -- A couple robbery suspects seem to have expensive tastes. Dwight Gustave and Adria Banks were arrested Monday for armed robbery. Miami Beach Police say they followed four victims home from nightclubs and stole their jewelry. The MBPD says the suspects had eyes for high-end watches. One watch they allegedly stole is valued at 140-thousand dollars. Investigators say they found over 175-thousand dollars worth of stolen items at Gustave's home. 

Resolution To Extend DC Takeover Introduced In Congress

(Washington, DC)-- A Republican lawmaker has introduced a congressional resolution to extend the federal takeover of DC law enforcement. Florida Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna is sponsoring a measure to extend the takeover indefinitely. Luna released a statement saying the President should have the authority to exert federal control over the city for as long as he thinks it's necessary. President Trump issued the order on August 11th and must get congressional approval to extend his authority over the city within 30 days.

Man Sentenced After Using Company Credit Card On Pokemon Cards

(Des Moines, IA)-- An Iowa man will spend four months in federal prison after racking up 140-thousand dollars in company credit card charges on Pokemon cards and gaming items. The Justice Department says 34-year-old Mitch William Gross used his company's credit cards for his personal shopping sprees between September 2021 and October 2022.He was working for Ruan Transportation Corporation at the time. Gross used falsified receipts to try to cover up the purchases. After his four months behind bars, Gross will be placed on supervised release for three years and will have to pay back more than 146-thousand dollars in restitution.
