(Washington, DC) -- It might not surprise you to know Republicans and Democrats had different reactions to the military strikes on Iran. Orlando Democratic Congressman Maxwell Frost wrote on X that Operation Midnight Hammer on Saturday was a dangerous escalation. He also says it was reckless and blatantly unconstitutional. Republican Congressman Randy Fine wrote on X "bombs away."Republican Congressman Scott Franklin says the attack sends a powerful message to Tehran and the world. He says that message is the US will act swiftly, decisively and without hesitation to defend its interests and uphold global stability.
SecDef Hegseth Praises Tampa CENTCOM
(Tampa, FL) --Members of MacDill Air Force Base are drawing praise. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth talked yesterday about the U.S. military strikes against Iran. He says CENTCOM did a phenomenal job in Operation Midnight Hammer, and he specifically cited General Eric Kurilla. Hegseth says the strikes were a joint effort with Kurilla, his staff and all of CENTCOM.
Anti-War Protest Held In Tampa
(Tampa, FL) --Anti-war advocates are making their voices heard in Tampa. About a hundred people rallied yesterday on Kennedy Boulevard to call for an end to the U.S. military action against Iran. The Party for Socialism and Liberation organized the protest. One member says he's worried this could escalate into another forever war. One woman says war is not sustainable and immoral. One man says war affects the ability to actually lead a dignified life in the United States. Another man tells ABC Action News he's worried the U.S. may be sacrificing our military for a lie.
Six Killed In Osceola County Crash
(Kissimmee, FL) -- Six people are dead after a crash in Osceola County. It happened Saturday afternoon on SR 60 near South Kenansville Road. FHP says a Hyundai Tucson SUV was going west when the driver tried to pass several cars by getting into the opposite lane. When the driver tried to re-enter the westbound lane, they lost control and hit a semi-truck. Troopers say the Tucson and the semi caught fire, and six people inside the Tucson were trapped. They died at the scene. FHP says three were adults, and three were children. The man driving the semi suffered minor injuries.
Three Shot In Volusia County
(Daytona Beach, FL)-- Three people are hurt after a shooting in Volusia County. It happened Friday night in Daytona Beach at South Turn Lounge and Restaurant on South Nova Road. Daytona Beach Police say they're expected to survive. A suspect is in custody. He's identified as Daytona Beach's Anthony Kaznakoff. The DBPD says he was drinking inside the restaurant, but he was asked to leave when he became belligerent. He later returned, got into what police call a brief verbal exchange, pulled a gun and fired. Kaznakoff is facing charges that include attempted felony murder, and he's being held without bond.
Smoke Detectors Alert Family To Fire
(Lauderdale Lakes, FL)-- Smoke detectors are credited with saving a family in Broward County. A home in Lauderdale Lakes caught fire yesterday morning near Northwest 31st Ave and 43rd Street. Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue says everyone was asleep, but the smoke detectors woke them up. Everyone got out OK, and no one was hurt. The Red Cross is helping the family. The State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause. So far, investigators think it was an electrical problem.
