Substitute Teacher Accused Of Showing Porn In Class
(St. Cloud, FL) -- An Osceola County woman wants better oversight of substitute teachers after an incident in her daughter's classroom. The woman says a sub showed her 13-year-old daughter pornographic pictures on his cellphone last week at Harmony Middle School in St. Cloud. She contacted the Osceola County School District, and officials say the teacher was fired. He came to the district through a third-party provider, Kelly Services. The company says they removed the teacher from all assignments pending an investigation. The mother, though, tells Channel 9 the district should do their own due diligence.
Pasco County Teacher Arrested On Child Porn Charges
(Land O'Lakes, FL)-- A Pasco County teacher is facing child porn charges. Land O'Lakes' Joseph Watson was arrested yesterday. He's charged with child porn possession, promotion and unlawful use of a two-way device. Watson is a music teacher at Oakstead Elementary School in Land O'Lakes. He also leads a church choir and participates in the church's summer youth program. Sheriff Chris Nocco is expected to release more details today.
Mom Wants To Press Charges After Son Is Attacked On School Bus
(Hollywood, FL)-- A Broward County woman wants to press charges against two boys who beat up her son. Deysi Gonzalez's 15-year-old son was attacked Thursday on a school bus by two other boys.He's a seventh grader at Driftwood Middle School in Hollywood, but Gonzalez says he just arrived from Guatemala and doesn't speak English so he doesn't know what provoked the attack. The school district says this was part of an ongoing dispute, and the students who attacked the boy received appropriate disciplinary measures. Gonzalez, though, says that's not enough, and she has hired an attorney. Her lawyer tells NBC 6 that Gonzalez wants the boys to face consequences for their actions, and she also wants parents to be aware of violence on school buses.
NJ Scratch-Off Player Turns In $100 Bill, Wins $1 Million
(Trenton, NJ) -- Karma appears to have helped a New Jersey lottery player who is cashing in on his one-million-dollar winnings. Lottery officials say back on April 30th, the player spotted a 100-dollar bill on the counter at the Phillipsburg Paul Mart in Warren County and turned his find into the store's lost and found. Moments later he purchased three Power 20X tickets, with one of the scratch-off's containing the one-million-dollar prize. While visiting the New Jersey Lottery's offices to claim his prize, the player called the whole scenario "a test from God."
