Man Wanted For Hurting Lake County Boy
(Tavares, FL) --A search is underway to find a Brevard County man who may have hurt a child in Lake County. Tavares Police are looking for Palm Bay 36-year-old Andre Dwayne Walker. This is part of the investigation into the case of a 10-year-old boy who's in critical condition in an Orlando hospital. He was brought to a Tavares hospital Saturday with bruises and burn marks. His mother was arrested. Kimberly Mills is charged with aggravated child abuse. Walker is wanted for being an accessory after the fact to aggravated child abuse. Mills has another child who's now in DCF custody.
Plane Crashes In Lake County
(Tavares, FL) --Two people are hurt after a plane crash in Lake County. It happened yesterday afternoon on Lake Dora near downtown Tavares. The sheriff's office says both people onboard the seaplane were taken to the hospital, but they're expected to recover. There's no word on what caused the plane to go down.
Coast Guard Rescues Three Boaters
(St. Petersburg, FL) -- Three boaters who ran into problems are safe thanks to the Coast Guard. They went boating Saturday, and a family member contacted the Coast Guard around 1:00 a.m. yesterday after not hearing from them for five hours. A helicopter from Air Station Clearwater found the boaters near Captiva. They were sitting on top of their capsized boat. A Coast Guard boat from Fort Myers Beach was called in, and the three were taken safely aboard. There's no word on what caused the boat to capsize.
Dynamic Tolling To Begin On I-4
(Orlando, FL) --Those who use I-4 may be in for a change today. FDOT plans to start dynamic tolling today for those who use express lanes in Orange and Seminole counties. Tolls will be most expensive between 6:00 and 9:00 a.m. and between 3:00 and 7:00 p.m. on weekdays. FDOT hopes this will keep traffic flowing.
Couple Goes On Robbery Spree, Takes Break To Get Married In Vegas
(Los Angeles, CA) -- A couple from North Hollywood is facing charges on suspicion of going on a two-week-long armed robbery spree across Los Angeles and Orange counties. Federal prosecutors say Antonio Bland and Abigail Luckey robbed 12 stores between January 29th and February 14th, 2024, when they were arrested in Downey. Prosecutors say the couple also took a quick break in between robberies to get married in Las Vegas. An alleged accomplice, a 23-year-old man from Long Beach, is also facing charges. The robberies took place at Seven-Eleven stores, doughnut shops and a smoke shop.
MLB To Use Robot Empires In Tampa Game
(Tampa, FL) --Major League Baseball used robot umpires in Friday's game between the Tampa Bay Rays and the New York Yankees. The "automated ball-strike challenge system," or ABS, has been tested in the minors for the past three seasons. There was still a home plate umpire, and players could challenge the machine's calls by tapping their helmet or cap within two seconds.
