Florida Takes Legal Action Against Target Over Pride Merchandise

(Tallahassee, FL) -- Florida is taking legal action against Target over merchandise it sold during one of its Pride campaigns. Attorney General James Uthmeier [[ UTH-my-er ]] said the state has filed a class action lawsuit against the retail giant. The case is accusing Target of knowingly defrauding its investors by not sharing the financial risks of selling products supporting the LGBTQ-plus community during a 2023 initiative. The attorney general says the company violated federal law and prioritized racial activism over its financial responsibility to shareholders. The campaign allegedly cost Target's stock to plummet, erasing 25-billion dollars in market value over six months.

DeLand Police Reopen Murder Case

(DeLand, FL) -- A decades-old murder case in Volusia County is getting another look. DeLand Police Chief Jason Umberger announced yesterday he has reopened an investigation into the death of Mellie Coger. She was 78 when she was beaten to death in her home on East Michigan Ave in 1981. Umberger says a person of interest has been identified. He wouldn't say who it is, but he says he's 64 and currently behind bars for a 1987 murder in Seminole County. He also says the Cold Case Unit is working hard to bring closure for the Coger family and let them know they have not forgotten about Mellie.     

Father Arrested After Son Causes Deadly Crash

(Poinciana, FL)-- A man is facing charges after his son was involved in a deadly crash in Poinciana. Richard Ferguson was arrested Wednesday for vehicular manslaughter. The case goes back to 2023 when Ferguson's 15-year-old son was allegedly speeding, ran a stop sign and hit another car. Four people in the other car were killed, including three children. Ferguson is accused of allowing his son to drive the car even though he knew the boy didn't have a license or a permit.   

Father Arrested After Son Allegedly Makes School Shooting Threat

(Clearwater, FL)-- A Pinellas County man is facing charges after his son allegedly made a school shooting threat. 10 Tampa Bay reports Joshua Tardif was arrested yesterday on gun and drug charges. His arrest comes two days after his 11-year-old son was arrested for allegedly threatening a mass shooting at Seminole Middle School.   

Woman Wakes Up Alone In Closed Boston Bar

(Boston, MA) -- An investigation is underway after a woman woke up alone in a closed Boston bar with no idea how she ended up there. The incident in question happened last September, when the woman called police after two a.m. and reported that she woke up alone inside a bathroom at Ned Devine's bar. The woman suspected that she had been drugged by a contaminated drink, although her toxicology report revealed no drugs in her system. Management of Ned Devine's say staff has been retrained to check and clear all spaces before closing. 

Bill Seeking To Ban Nudificatrion Technology Introduced In Minnesota Senate Committee

(St. Paul, MN)-- The Minnesota Senate is considering a bill that will ban the use of AI technology that can alter an image and make a person appear naked. The nudification legislation calls for a penalty of $500,000 for each unlawful access or download of these altered images. The Senate Judiciary and Public Safety Committee heard testimony from people warning about the technology. A vote was not taken and the measure could be included in a larger public safety bill.
