Florida Lawmakers Cancel Meetings Due To Weather

(Tallahassee, FL) -- Florida lawmakers are taking extra precaution ahead of the anticipation of severe winter weather. As the Sunshine State braces for potential snow and ice, the state House and Senate has canceled committee meetings planned on Wednesday and Thursday. Legislators are scheduled to return to Tallahassee for a special session called by Governor Ron DeSantis next week. The governor says he wants to address issues like immigration, aid for hurricane victims, and condo safety laws. The state's next legislative session is scheduled to begin on March 4th.

Local J6er Released From Prison

(Miami, FL) -- A Miami man convicted for his role in the January 6th riot is now a free man. Enrique Tarrio was released from prison yesterday after President Trump pardoned him and about 15-hundred others. Tarrio was sentenced in 2023 to 22 years for seditious conspiracy. He was chairman of the Proud Boys and state director of Latinos for Trump. Tarrio wasn't at the Capitol the day of the riot, but he took credit for it online, writing "make no mistake, we did this." Tarrio's mom tells Local 10 News that Enrique is due back in South Florida today, and having her son home is a gift from God.   

Brevard County Cemetery Vandalized

(Cocoa, FL) -- Police in Brevard County are looking for those who vandalized an all-Black cemetery. Graffiti was found over a week ago at The Hilltop Cemetery in Cocoa on Pine Street. A grave, fence pillars and a concrete barrier were spray-painted. Helen Williams reported the vandalism after visiting the graves of her mother and grandmother. She tells Spectrum News 13 she plans on going to the cemetery more often to keep an eye on things. No arrest has been announced.          

Tampa Reportedly Chosen To Host 2029 National Championship College Football Game

(Tampa, FL) -- Tampa may host the college football national championship game in a few years. The Action Network reported yesterday Tampa has been chosen to host the 2029 game. Dallas was the original choice but backed out due to scheduling issues. It would be Tampa's first time hosting the game since 2017. Miami will host next year's game. 

"The Brutalist" Receives Backlash For AI Use

(Hollywood, CA)-- The movie "The Brutalist" is receiving backlash after admitting to using AI in the film. The film's editor revealed in an interview with the tech magazine "Red Shark News" they used AI tools from "Respeecher" to improve the authenticity of the Hungarian dialogue of stars Adrian Brody and Felicity Jones. The editor said that certain words were difficult to speak, leading to the voices Brody and Jones's being recorded into the AI software. The AI was also used in the film's final sequence to create "a series of architectural drawings and finished buildings.
